A veterans mental health symposium in Fond du lac Friday was scheduled prior to last month’s shooting rampage at the
Washington Navy Yard. In the weeks before the shooting , officials
say Aaron Alexis had been hearing voices, and was
being treated for mental problems. In Fond du Lac, Salute
the Troops founder Dan Manning says the tragic incident is a
case in point for the need to help veterans with mental issues. Manning says the regional
symposium will be held today at Marian University. Manning says in Fond du
lac County there are more than 8.000 veterans, a National Guard unit
and Army Reserve unit with limited resources, so the need for veterans
support is only going to increase.
