A Ripon College economics professor says it would be very
irresponsible if the Congress failed to reach a deal to avoid a U.S.
default. Professor Paul Schoofs says the policy and ideology differences will always be there in our political system. "To push it to this kind of a limit where the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, our financial respect in the financial world has always been able to back up our borrowing, to put that in any kind of jeopardy I think is very, very irresponsible," Schoofs told AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program. Meanwhile Schoofs says the partial government shutdown
now in its 16th day is already weighing on the economy. The U.S. is expected to reach its borrowing limit tomorrow,
jeopardizing its ability to pay its bills.
