The North Fond du Lac Village Board met in special session
Friday afternoon and voted to close a
road that crosses the railroad tracks.
This after residents complained about non stop train whistles that
started last Sunday night. Village administrator Chuck Hornung tells AM 1170 WFDL's Between the Lines program the Federal
Railroad Administration lifted a “quiet zone” and since then the horns have been sounding
up to 150 times a day. The village board voted unanimously in favor of a resolution
to close the crossing to automobile traffic with an exception for emergency vehicles.
