The Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner is reminding
motorists this week is National Work Zone Awareness Week.
Tom Janke says this week is recognized by both the Wisconsin
Department of
Transportation and Federal Highway Administration to increase public awareness of work zone safety. Janke says there are many distractions with construction
workers and highway personnel performing their jobs sometimes within feet from live traffic. Janke says both Fond du Lac and Winnebago County Highway Departments have
lost employees to motorist while they worked
within work zones.
