4-8-14 toddler run down

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin man accused of fatally running over his 2-year-old son and stabbing the boy's mother has entered a plea deal just as his trial was to begin.  Thirty-two-year-old Jesus Castillo-Dimas pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide Monday for the 2012 death of his son, Yandel Castillo-Castillo.  Castillo-Dimas also pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree intentional homicide for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend, Maria Castillo-Castillo, who was the boy's mother. She survived the attack.  The plea agreement was finalized Monday morning as jury selection was scheduled to begin.  Castillo-Dimas would have faced a mandatory life prison sentence if convicted on the original first-degree intentional homicide charge.  As part of the plea agreement, Castillo-Dimas abandoned his insanity defense. Sentencing is set for June 12.
