4-12-14 fdl apartment fire quickly extinguished

 On Friday April 11, 2014 at 2:47 p.m. the Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to a report of  a possible fire at 848 Martin Avenue, Maplewood Commons Apartment Complex.  Upon arrival firefighters met with residents who heard a fire alarm going sounding in one of the apartments.  The resident in the second floor apartment was not home when the fire occurred. Firefighters extinguished a small fire which was contained to wastepaper basket.  Fire crews evacuated smoke from the apartment building.  Smoke alarms were working and alerted neighbors of the fire.  There were no injuries reported and all residents were allowed to return to their units.  The fire is being investigated by the Fond du Lac Police and Fire Departments.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
