Fond du Lac fire officials say its fortunate a garage attic
fire occurred when it did to prevent it from spreading and causing further
damage. Fire prevention specialist Troy Haase says the fire was
reported shortly after 9pm Wednesday at a residence on Country Club
Lane…and was fortunately quickly extinguished before it got worse. Its the residence of Fond du Lac city manager Joe Moore. Next door neighbor, fire chief Pete O'Leary, was able to knock down the fire until firefighters arrived on the scene. "It was all perfect timing because the person (homeowner) was going to pick up their kids and when they went out there (garage) they could smell something and see some discoloration on the drywall," Haase told WFDL news. "...otherwise if that person doesn't go at night and the next morning or in the middle of the night we would have had a garage fire." Haase says the cause of the fire remains under
investigation.
