The Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce is pleased to recognize and
celebrate the accomplishments of the 2013 Community Award recipients. Four (4) area companies and organizations
will receive this award at the Association of Commerce Annual Meeting on
Thursday, February 13 at the Holiday Inn of Fond du Lac.
Established
in 1972, the purpose of the award program is “to pay recognition to area
citizens for their volunteer contribution to the community and to area
businesses for their contribution to the growth and development of the
area.” The 2013
Community Award recipients are:
- Mercury
Marine: In recognition of growth and development and for the commitment made
to the community during 75 years in Fond du Lac.
- Solutions
Center: In recognition of the significant contributions made to the less fortunate
within the Fond du Lac community.
- Thelma
Sadoff Center for the Arts: In honor of the significant advancement made
to the promotion of the arts through the creation of the Thelma Sadoff
Center for the Arts.
- Wells Vehicle Electronics: In recognition of the growth and investment made to the Fond du Lac community through increased employment and expansion.
Too
often, great contributions go unnoticed. The AC hopes that the Community Awards
can shine a light on the persons and organizations that have made significant
contributions to our community. “Without
the leadership these organizations have shown, our community would simply not
be what it is today,” stated Joe Reitemeier, president and CEO of the Fond du
Lac Area Association of Commerce. “We are
proud to recognize these local assets.” A
fund was established for the AC Community Awards through a gift from local
businessman, the late Joseph Berger Jr. to help pay for the plaques awarded
each year. Mr. Berger requested that the AC Community Awards program be a way
of honoring his father, Joseph Berger Sr. for his contributions to the greater
Fond du Lac community.
