A patrol sergeant in the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department
is running for sheriff. Sergeant
Dale Schmidt says running for sheriff has been a long time goal and feels he is the best candidate for the job. Schmidt is challenging incumbent Sheriff Pat Ninmann who was appointed last April by
Governor
Scott Walker to replace the retiring sheriff Todd
Nehls. Schmidt began his law enforcement career as a Winneconne
police officer in 2000 and was hired as a Dodge County patrol deputy in
2004. Schmidt was born in Beaver Dam and raised in Waupun . He graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du lac in 1997 and
Fox Valley Technical College in 2001.
He was elected to the Waupun city council in 2009.
