The Fond du Lac city council next week will consider a
resolution to clear the way for a multi-million dollar expansion project
at the Holiday Inn including a new conference center. The city council will vote on a development agreement at their meeting next Wednesday. In a memo to the council Community Development Director Wayne Rollin says the conference center
is part of a plan by the hotel
to invest $10 million at its Fond du lac location over the next couple of years. In
addition to the conference center the hotel restaurant will be converted to a Benvenuto’s Italian restaurant and a new
Holiday Inn Express would be built next to the Holiday Inn. Rollin says the conference center is proposed
north of the existing meeting rooms. The cost of the 16,000 square foot addition is
estimated at $950,000 and the city would be asked to assist with Tax Incremental
Financing. According to the Benvenuto website the new restaurant is
expected to open late this year.
