A suspect in the slaying of a Sturdevant teenager
in Fond du Lac County more than two decades ago has been arrested for
attacking his ex-girlfriend with a knife in a West Bend Walmart parking
lot. According to West Bend police the 45 year old woman was cut
multiple times when 50 year old Craig Hron of West Bend attacked her
with a knife. Police say Hron had parked his car in another lot and was
waiting by the victim’s car for her to leave Walmart. The victim was able to fend off Hron and with the help of a co-worker and several other
bystanders Hron was held until police arrived.
The victim had filed a temporary restraining order against Hron last Friday.
Hron was considered a prime suspect in the disappearance and murder of Berit Beck in Fond du Lac in July of 1990. Police believe Beck was abducted from the
Forest Mall parking lot after leaving the Walgreens Pharmacy. Her body was
found about a month later in a roadside ditch near Waupun.
